The estimated annual base salary range for this position is \$72710 - \$96343.4 Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training.\n\nThis position may also be eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP). AIP amounts are variable and are dependent on both company and individual performance, subject to eligibility criteria. The target bonus percentage for this role is 5% of annual base earnings.\n\nWe currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Associate. You will support existing and new designs of components and assemblies that make up Electrical Medium Voltage Switchgear, Metal-Enclosed Switchgear, and Motor Operators. The ideal candidate is a professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an understanding of the Electrical Distribution market. Responsibilities • Develop knowledge of S&C’s products and Power Systems that support the utility market, renewable projects, and Smart-Grids. • Modify existing designs or develop new designs of products, sub-assemblies, and assemblies, under the direction of senior engineers. • Create and maintain mechanical designs and engineering documents associated with existing and new products. • Prepare detailed drawings used for purposes of supplier quotations, manufacturing, and final assembly. • Lead and organize new configured model development and manage changes to current production configured models. • Work with engineering and design professionals and members of the global sourcing, production planning, manufacturing, and assembly groups. • Provide high quality engineering support for internal and external customers. • Design, build, and test engineering prototypes and test vehicles. • Present significant findings, orally and in writing, to senior management and engineers throughout the company. • Define device and system test requirements as well as prepare test samples and travel to outside labs, customer and supplier facilities. • Participate in or lead Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) events • Perform problem solving systematically using S&C’s 4-Step problem solving process including returned product investigations (RMAs). Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering • 0-2 years of experience working in either a technical design, commercial customer service, or manufacturing function is an asset. • Strong proficiency in the use of CAD systems, specifically 3D modeling; experience with Solid Edge is preferred. • Knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing, and model making. • Experience with Dimensioning and Tolerancing. • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes. • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. • Exposure to programming in C++, HTML, Visual Basic, or similar programs. • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. • Ability to prioritize workload to complete multiple projects and meet milestones. • Knowledge of Switchgear Design is an asset. • Desire to work hands-on in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. • Committed to a lean and continuous improvement working atmosphere.
