About this role
RoboSonica Inc., a University of Alberta spin-off, is seeking a highly motivated Robotics Software Engineer to support the development of a robot-assisted ultrasound scanning system. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to an advanced medical technology project spanning software development, robotics, medical image processing, and machine learning within a multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will work on a system built around the KUKA LBR Med 7 robotic arm and will play a key role in advancing the platform’s technical capabilities. This position is based in Edmonton, Alberta, and requires in-person work. The successful candidate will be expected to start as soon as possible.
Compensation for this position starts at $50,000/year and will be commensurate with experience.
Qualifications
• Master’s or PhD in Computing Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; exceptional candidates with a Bachelor’s degree will also be considered
• Required: Demonstrated experience programming, setting up, and operating physical robotic hardware, including traditional industrial manipulators and collaborative robots (cobots)
• Strong programming background with advanced knowledge of Java, Python, and related technologies
• Experience with KUKA Sunrise.OS is considered a strong asset
• Advanced knowledge of medical image data processing
• Experience working with machine learning frameworks
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary environment
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a self-motivated, organized approach to work
• Experience with Health Canada approvals for medical devices is considered a strong asset
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
