Role Description The Project Accountant/Bookkeeper is a full-time, on-site role based in Ottawa, ON, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting project-based accounting activities. Day-to-day tasks include recording transactions, reconciling accounts, managing payables and receivables, and preparing financial reports for internal use and client projects. The role involves tracking project budgets and costs, assisting with tax-related documentation, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. The individual will collaborate with project managers and senior accountants, respond to client inquiries, and help improve accounting workflows and tools to support efficient operations. Qualifications • Strong bookkeeping and accounting skills, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliation, and financial reporting. • Experience with project accounting, such as budget tracking, cost allocation, and monitoring project financial performance. • Proficiency with accounting software and productivity tools (e.g., QuickBooks or similar platforms, spreadsheets, and document management systems). • Knowledge of tax principles, compliance requirements, and support for tax preparation and planning activities. • Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects and deadlines. • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients. • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification or progress toward CPA designation is an asset. • Experience in a public accounting or professional services environment and familiarity with Canadian accounting standards is preferred.
