About this role

Reporting to the Vice President of Financial Asset Management, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day accounting and reporting of the main operations company, small holding companies and will assist with ad hoc analysis as needed. Some of the responsibilities will include: • Preparation of day to day accounting functions for the main operating company (AR, AP, bank recs, JE, accruals etc.) • Preparation of monthly cash flow forecasts • Help with the preparation of quarterly finance report used by senior management and preparation of power point slides • Preparation of month-end reporting packages to parent company • Assist with the annual audit, preparing required schedules and note disclosures for annual financial statements • Assist with the preparation of holding company financial statements for annual tax return purposes • Assist with the preparation and review of annual budgets • Preparation of monthly filing of HST and QST returns • Preparation of withholding tax on intercompany and foreign supplier transactions • Participate in special projects as requested • Preparation of in house concession month-end reporting requirements • Review of budget/forecast/objective analysis • SPV costs reviewed for reasonableness • Review of effective interest and financial asset calculations • Review of construction and SPV margin adjustments to comply with corporate policy • Assist in creating board presentations and related material as required • Positive attitude, pro-active thinker an embodies a continuous improvement mindset • Ability to think critically, work through problems and document a solution • Thorough understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) • Able to work with multiple small businesses; multiple GL’s • Able to maintain and understand working financial models • Possess excellent organizational skills and is able to work with minimal supervision • Understanding of critical planning of key accounting tasks in advance so no issues of payments or deliverables getting missed or any other compliance matters not being attended to • Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills; QuickBooks and audit experience would be considered an asset • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and set priorities as required • Excellent written, oral and electronic communication skills B.A / B. Comm Professional, acts with integrity and honesty, is ethical and trustworthy 1-2 years considered an asset CPA designation/CPA candidate is a must English (both written and verbal) – Excellent
