Overview
Our client, a well-established full-service law firm in the Greater Toronto Area, is seeking an experienced Insolvency & Collections Lawyer to join its growing litigation and recovery team. This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer who enjoys managing complex debt recovery and enforcement matters while working directly with financial institutions, lenders, businesses, and insolvency professionals.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage a broad range of insolvency, bankruptcy, debt recovery, and enforcement matters from inception through resolution.
• Represent secured and unsecured creditors in recovery proceedings, receiverships, bankruptcies, and restructuring matters.
• Advise clients on enforcement strategies, creditor rights, security realization, and risk mitigation.
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, enforcement materials, demand letters, settlement agreements, and related court documentation.
• Appear before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and other tribunals on contested and uncontested matters.
• Negotiate settlements with debtors, opposing counsel, trustees, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain strong client relationships while providing practical, business-focused legal advice.
• Contribute to business development initiatives and support the continued growth of the practice.
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience practicing insolvency, collections, debt recovery, and enforcement law.
• Experience representing creditors, financial institutions, lenders, or commercial clients.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario enforcement procedures, insolvency legislation, and creditor remedies.
• Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and drafting skills.
• Ability to independently manage files while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to exceptional client service and relationship management.
• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
