Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking for your next impactful opportunity in heavy industry? We are partnering with a top-tier industry leader to find a driven Senior Mechanical Engineer to deliver full-lifecycle engineering solutions.
This is a 1 year contract, hybrid in Vancouver, extendable for the long term. Some travel around the province required.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver engineering work across all phases, from conceptual design through to final operational turnover.
• Lead design, stress analysis, process engineering, and modification of industrial water, air, and oil piping systems, as well as related equipment (pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, and diesel generators).
• Apply codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, API, MSS, CSA, and BC regulations) to deliver safe, practical, and high-quality solutions.
• Utilize 3D plant design, BIM modeling, clash detection, and model coordination software to manage complex project deliverables.
• Navigate project ambiguity, make risk-based technical decisions, and streamline complex engineering challenges.
Must-Have Qualifications
• Education & Registration: Mechanical Engineering degree recognized by Canadian universities, plus active registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC.
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
• Licensing: Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence in good standing.
• Technical Standards: Deep understanding of applicable codes (ASME B31, B16, B36, BPVC series, ASTM, API, MSS, CSA, and BC-specific regulations).
• Technical Proficiency: Experience with 3D plant design, BIM modeling, clash detection, and model coordination (e.g., Autodesk Plant 3D, ReCap, Navisworks).
• Core Competencies: Strong sense of ownership, results-focused approach, continuous improvement mindset, and exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
• Domain Expertise: Transferable experience from hydroelectric, utilities, oil & gas, mining, or heavy industrial environments.
