About this role
Location: Calgary, AB or Toronto, ON (In-office)
Reports to: CEO
Join one of Canada's fastest growing ecosystems and work in FinTech.
Digital Commerce Group (DCGroup), comprised of Digital Commerce Bank (DCBank), Digital Commerce Payments Inc. (DCPayments) and Pateno Payments Inc. (Pateno), specializes in digital payment solutions for corporations, empowering businesses and FinTech entrepreneurs to effortlessly scale their business. Founded in 2007, our enterprise-grade payment and banking technology outpaces traditional financial services in speed, transparency, and cost. Our customers leverage our tech-forward solutions to access advanced payment technology, facilitate instant transactions, add fresh revenue streams and connect with new audiences.
DCBank is a Schedule 1 Canadian Bank and a member of Payments Canada and a principal member of Interac, Visa and Mastercard. DCPayments and Pateno are affiliates that leverage DCBank's rails and technology to enable clients to embed their own financial and payment solutions—from Payments-as-a-Service and card issuing to digital wallets, money movement, merchant acquiring, and high-volume payouts for niche markets such as regulated iGaming and cryptocurrency trading platforms.
About the Role:
DCGroup is seeking a Chief Marketing Officer to join our executive leadership team and take end-to-end ownership of marketing strategy, brand, product positioning, demand generation, and communications across DCBank, DCPayments, and Pateno. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CMO will define and execute a consolidated, data-driven marketing strategy that drives brand awareness, qualified pipeline, client retention, and revenue growth across all three entities.
This is a hands-on, strategic role for a leader who is equally comfortable setting a multi-year brand vision and rolling up their sleeves on campaign performance, content, and CRM. You will lead an established in-house marketing team and manage our agency and vendor ecosystem to consolidate work in-house where it drives efficiency and impact.
If you are a proven B2B FinTech marketing leader who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, has led marketing through periods of scale, and knows how to position a regulated, technology-first payments platform to sophisticated enterprise buyers, developers, ISVs, and SaaS partners, we want to hear from you.
Key Accountabilities:
Strategic Marketing Leadership
• Design and implement a unified, data-driven marketing strategy across DCBank, DCPayments, and Pateno that aligns with each entity's ideal customer profile, regulatory posture, and revenue targets.
• Serve as a member of the DCGroup executive leadership team, partnering with the CEO, entity Presidents, Sales, Product, Compliance, and Technology on go-to-market planning, pricing positioning, and cross-sell strategy.
• Own the annual marketing plan, budget, and quarterly OKRs, and report performance directly to the CEO and Board.
Brand & Category Positioning
• Own and evolve the DCGroup master brand and each sub-brand's narrative—from DCBank's regulated, Schedule 1 backbone to DCPayments' embedded payments and merchant acquiring platform to Pateno's specialization in high-risk, high-velocity verticals such as regulated iGaming and crypto trading platforms.
• Design and develop physical marketing materials and ensure consistent positioning, messaging, and visual identity across all channels, collateral, tradeshows, and client-facing materials.
• Act as a senior brand ambassador in the market alongside the CEO and entity Presidents, including with media, analysts, and industry associations such as Payments Canada, Interac, and the CPPO.
• Evaluate and implement best in class AI strategies as it relates to new product launches and awareness, client prospecting and demand generation.
Demand Generation & Growth Marketing
• Build and scale a multi-channel demand engine across content, SEO/AEO, paid digital, ABM, email nurtures, partner marketing, and events.
• Own full-funnel performance metrics including MQL volume, SQL conversion, cost per acquisition, pipeline velocity, and marketing-sourced revenue, and hold the team accountable to them.
• Content, Digital & Communications
• Lead content strategy including the DCGroup resource hub, monthly enterprise newsletter, thought leadership articles, webinars, video, and press.
• Own website strategy, UX, SEO, and conversion optimization across dc-payments.ca, dcbank.ca, pateno.com, and Jasper.
• Develop and execute the DCGroup public relations, media, and executive communications strategy, including support for executive LinkedIn presence and quoted commentary in publications such as the Financial Post and Globe and Mail.
Events, Sponsorships & Partner Marketing
• Own the group-wide event and conference strategy—including our executive-level cocktail series across Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal, Edmonton, Halifax and Las Vegas, and marquee industry events such as Money20/20, CPPO, and Web Summit.
• Structure pre-, during-, and post-event playbooks with clear pipeline attribution and ROI.
• Build co-marketing programs with strategic partners including Interac, card networks, ISVs, and SaaS integration partners.
Team Leadership & Operations
• Lead, mentor and grow the DCGroup marketing team, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and data-driven decision making.
• Manage the annual marketing budget with rigorous ROI discipline.
• Establish reporting, dashboards, and monthly/quarterly business reviews with senior leadership and the Board.
The ideal candidate will possess some or all the following skills:
Experience
• 10+ years of progressive marketing leadership, with at least 3 years in an executive (VP/CMO) capacity leading multi-disciplinary marketing teams.
• Proven track record in B2B FinTech, payments, or regulated financial services, ideally with exposure to both enterprise and mid-market segments.
• Demonstrated success building and scaling a marketing function from a lean team through significant growth, including bringing outsourced capabilities in-house.
• Experience marketing to sophisticated buyers including CFOs, Heads of Payments, developers, ISVs, SaaS platforms, and system integrators.
• Solid understanding of Canada's payment ecosystem—Interac e-Transfer®, EFT, card networks, the Real-Time Rail, prepaid, merchant acquiring—and the AML/KYC context in which we operate.
Skills & Competencies
• Strategic thinker and hands-on operator; equally comfortable in a boardroom and in HubSpot.
• Strong analytical skills; fluent in marketing performance data, attribution, and ROI modeling (Power BI, HubSpot).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; a natural spokesperson and storyteller.
• Executive presence, high integrity, and a collaborative leadership style that partners well with Sales, Product, and Compliance.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, bias for action, and comfort with ambiguity in a fast-moving environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or a related field required.

• The opportunity to shape the brand and go-to-market strategy across three complementary entities operating at the forefront of embedded payments, payments-as-a-service, merchant acquiring, and high-velocity payouts.
• Direct access to the CEO, Board, and C-suite peers.
• Competitive executive compensation package including base salary, performance bonus, standard benefits and a company matched RRSP plan, as well as an employee assistance program.
