Through our culture, rooted in our values, we will achieve our purpose and ambition. The Opportunity We are seeking a Human Resources (HR) Advisor to join our team at CUPS. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, you will collaborate with the HR team to deliver first‑class HR support and solutions to our employees, leaders, and our external HR network, including job candidates and post‑secondary institutions. As a trusted advisor to CUPS staff and leaders, you will provide comprehensive HR guidance and support throughout the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, talent management, and learning and development. While your role spans a broad range of HR responsibilities, your primary focus will be supporting leaders with recruitment‑ and performance‑related activities. You will also coordinate CUPS’ Practicum Student program and contribute to HR projects that enhance the employee experience, support leadership development, and align with our strategic direction. • Location: CUPS Main Site (10th Ave & 9th Street SW) and Administrative Office (10th Ave & 8th Street SW) Calgary • Reports To: Human Resources Director • Contract Type: Permanent • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours/week • Starting Annual Salary Range: $58,080 to $60,954 Key Responsibilities • Provide coaching and advice to leaders to ensure consistent delivery of HR programs across CUPS • Partner with hiring managers to support the recruitment process, including interviews, candidate evaluations, candidate selection and offer creation • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of job descriptions and job postings • Coach employees and leaders in employee relations matters and performance management, conversations, providing coaching and support to leaders while ensuring the dignity of the worker and legislation requirements are upheld • Coordinate CUPS Practicum Student program by building relationships with key schools, supporting student selection, orienting new students, and partnering with leadership on practicum support. • Support CUPS Health and Safety program, ensuring staff and leaders understand and adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures and practices. • Identify opportunities and propose solutions for continuous improvement in HR initiatives, policies and department effectiveness • Provide backup support to HR team members to manage workload effectively including HR administrative duties as needed • Act as ambassador of CUPS purpose and values both internally and externally What You Bring • University Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related area of study; or a Diploma in Human Resources combined with relevant professional experience • 2 -5 years’ experience of relevant Human Resources experience, nonprofit sector experience an asset • CPHR Designation, or working towards designation an asset • Proven ability to establish and develop relationships and positively influence others • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to confidently facilitate sessions • Experience managing recruitment activities, from creating job descriptions and postings to leading candidate interviews • Demonstrated skill in coaching, conflict management and/or mediation an asset, with 2+ years managing employee relations concerns • Strong skills of discernment and reasoning, with the ability to understand multiple perspectives, synthesize information, and communicate effectively to variety of audiences • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities effectively and with minimal supervision • Demonstrated understanding of legislation pertaining to employment, Human Rights, and Health and Safety • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office and HR databases Employment Requirements: Criminal Record Check Work Environment • Long periods of sitting, computer work • Individual and collaborative team-based work • Ability to work remotely from home 1 – 2 days per week after completion of orientation period • May be exposed to information regarding trauma, hardship and stressful events Ready to Join Us?
