Data Warehouse Analyst (Cloud Data Engineer) Client: Transportation Start Date: ASAP Duration: 5 months (will ask about likelihood of extension) Location: Hybrid, 2 days a week onsite in New Westminster office near Sapperton Sky train On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking a Data Warehouse Analyst (Data Engineer) for a 5 month contract. Candidates must be located in the lower mainland for hybrid work. We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize enterprise data platforms within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. This role will lead the development of scalable data lakes, modern data pipelines, and cloud-native analytics solutions while supporting enterprise reporting and data modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses deep Azure expertise, strong engineering capabilities, and extensive experience delivering end-to-end cloud data solutions. Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud-based data warehouse and data lake solutions. • Architect and implement robust data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration frameworks. • Build and optimize data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks. • Design enterprise-grade data lake architectures supporting structured and unstructured data. • Lead migration and modernization initiatives involving legacy and cloud-based data platforms. • Convert and modernize existing Azure Synapse pipelines into Azure Data Factory and Databricks solutions. • Develop high-performance Spark workloads using PySpark/Python. • Implement Delta Lake architectures supporting scalable analytics and data governance. • Collaborate with business and technical teams to translate requirements into technical solutions. • Optimize data processing performance, scalability, and operational efficiency. • Support reporting and analytics solutions leveraging Power BI and enterprise reporting tools. • Establish data engineering standards, best practices, and reusable frameworks. • Monitor data platform performance and proactively resolve operational issues. • Create detailed technical documentation, designs, and operational procedures. • Ensure security, compliance, and governance standards are incorporated into all solutions. Qualifications: • 5+ years of Cloud implementation projects. • 5+ years of hands-on experience with a range of Azure Services, including ADF, Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse, Power BI Report and Crystal Report. • Strong experience with sunsetting Synapse pipelines and converting them to ADF and Databricks • Hands-on experience with Spark (PySpark/Python) in Azure. • Strong knowledge and experience designing Data Lakes. • Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines using Azure Data Factory. • Strong knowledge of Azure data ecosystem for computing and storage
