Compensation: Competitive base salary plus performance-based bonus. Final compensation will be based on experience.
Gry Mattr is a growing lifestyle brand creating elevated, design-forward products across stationery, home, gifts, glassware, candles, accessories, and more. We work with major retailers, independent boutiques, sales agencies, distributors, and wholesale partners across Canada, the U.S., and international markets.
We are looking for a driven and commercially minded Business Development Manager, Wholesale to help grow Gry Mattr’s wholesale business. This role will focus on identifying new opportunities, opening new retail and wholesale accounts, building relationships with buyers and sales partners, and helping expand the brand across key markets.
This is a sales-focused role for someone who is proactive, confident, relationship-driven, and excited by the opportunity to help grow a design-forward lifestyle brand.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
• Identify, research, and pursue new wholesale opportunities across Canada, the U.S., and international markets.
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective retail accounts, distributors, sales agencies, and strategic wholesale partners.
• Conduct outreach to potential accounts through email, phone, LinkedIn, trade shows, showroom appointments, and other sales channels.
• Present Gry Mattr’s product collections to prospective buyers and wholesale partners.
• Follow up consistently with leads and opportunities to move prospects through the sales pipeline.
• Convert qualified prospects into active wholesale accounts.
Wholesale Sales Growth
• Drive wholesale revenue growth through new account development and expansion of existing opportunities.
• Identify reorder opportunities, category expansion, seasonal programs, and product placement opportunities.
• Develop strong relationships with buyers, retailers, distributors, and sales partners.
• Understand account needs, buying cycles, product performance, and future opportunities.
• Support strategic sales planning for priority accounts, territories, and market opportunities.
• Work toward defined sales goals, pipeline targets, and growth objectives.
Key Account & Buyer Relationships
• Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective wholesale buyers.
• Act as a sales-focused contact for account growth, product presentations, new opportunities, and buyer follow-up.
• Identify ways to deepen relationships with existing wholesale partners.
• Bring forward opportunities for new product placement, category expansion, replenishment, and seasonal programs.
• Represent Gry Mattr professionally in buyer meetings, sales appointments, and industry events.
Rep Group & Distributor Growth
• Develop and strengthen relationships with rep groups, distributors, showrooms, and external sales partners.
• Help identify new rep group, showroom, and distributor opportunities in key markets.
• Work with sales partners to support growth objectives, new account opportunities, and buyer outreach.
• Follow up on leads, showroom activity, market feedback, and sales opportunities.
• Help create momentum and accountability with external sales partners through clear communication and consistent follow-up.
Trade Shows & Market Appointments
• Attend trade shows, wholesale markets, showroom appointments, and buyer meetings as a key sales representative for the brand.
• Use trade shows as a primary opportunity to generate leads, build relationships, and open new accounts.
• Present product collections confidently to buyers and sales partners.
• Follow up with trade show leads and convert opportunities into active wholesale accounts.
• Share customer feedback, market insights, and sales opportunities following each show.
Sales Strategy & Reporting
• Track sales pipeline activity, account growth, buyer feedback, and new business opportunities.
• Provide regular updates on sales progress, priority accounts, market opportunities, and revenue potential.
• Use sales data, customer feedback, and market insight to identify growth opportunities.
• Work with leadership to develop sales strategies by account type, territory, channel, and product category.
• Contribute to sales forecasts, account planning, and growth targets.
Internal Collaboration
• Work closely with internal sales operations, product development, marketing, customer service, and leadership teams to support wholesale growth.
• Share buyer feedback, market insights, product opportunities, and account needs with the internal team.
• Partner with internal teams to ensure prospective and existing wholesale accounts have the tools, information, and support needed to drive sales.
• Collaborate on product launches, seasonal selling periods, major account opportunities, and trade show follow-up.
Qualifications
• 3–6 years of experience in business development, wholesale sales, account management, retail sales, consumer products, or a related field.
• Proven ability to generate new business, build relationships, and grow sales.
• Experience selling to retail accounts, wholesale buyers, distributors, rep groups, or showrooms is a strong asset.
• Strong commercial instincts and confidence communicating with buyers and sales partners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly proactive, organized, and comfortable managing a sales pipeline.
• Comfortable working with sales targets, reporting, and account follow-up.
• Ability to present products clearly and confidently.
• Interest in design, lifestyle products, stationery, home, gifts, glassware, candles, or retail is a strong asset.
• Experience with trade shows, wholesale markets, or showroom sales is an asset.
• Willingness to travel for trade shows, sales meetings, and market opportunities as needed.
