Our client is seeking a seasoned and proactive Fleet Operations Manager to oversee their national transportation logistics network. This role is fully remote, requiring exceptional organizational and communication skills to manage a dispersed team and operations effectively. You will be responsible for optimizing fleet performance, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving efficiency across all aspects of transportation and delivery.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategic plans for fleet management, focusing on cost reduction, efficiency gains, and service quality. Oversee daily fleet operations, including dispatching, routing, and scheduling, to ensure timely and safe deliveries. Manage a team of dispatchers, drivers, and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations, primarily through virtual communication channels. Monitor fleet performance metrics, analyze data, and generate reports on key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, and driver productivity. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including DOT and FMCSA requirements. Develop and manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, vendors, and partners. Implement and maintain fleet maintenance programs to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and compliant. Manage the procurement and disposal of fleet assets. Utilize fleet management software and telematics systems to track assets, monitor driver behavior, and optimize operations. Respond promptly to operational challenges and emergencies, developing and executing contingency plans. Foster a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement within the fleet operations team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered. Minimum of 7 years of experience in fleet management or transportation operations, with a proven track record of success. Strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, and other relevant transportation regulations. Proficiency in fleet management software, telematics systems, and TMS platforms. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage remote teams effectively. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Proven ability to manage budgets and control costs. Experience in developing and implementing operational policies and procedures. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote environment.
