Vice President Finance

Location: Markham, ON (On-site) Vacancy Type: Existing Position Company Overview Our client is a well-established Canadian distributor with a strong national presence and longstanding industry relationships. The organization is focused on operational excellence, scalable growth, and strengthening its finance leadership team. The Role The Vice President, Finance will lead the day-to-day finance function, overseeing financial reporting, accounting operations, team leadership, and operational finance across the organization. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who enjoys building structure, improving processes, developing teams, and partnering cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment. The role also offers long-term growth into a broader strategic finance leadership position. Key Responsibilities Finance & Reporting • Lead month-end close, financial reporting, accounting operations, and inventory costing • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial reporting • Deliver management reporting, KPI tracking, and variance analysis • Maintain strong financial controls and scalable finance processes Leadership & Business Partnership • Lead and develop the finance team • Partner with operations, sales, purchasing, and warehousing to support business performance • Provide financial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and margin enhancement Process Improvement & Cash Flow • Drive process improvements, automation, and ERP optimization initiatives • Improve visibility into working capital and cash flow performance • Support inventory, receivables, and payables optimization First 12 Months – Key Expectations • Fully assume ownership of all internal finance functions. • Establish a high-performing and clearly structured finance team. • Improve reporting quality, visibility, and insight. • Identify and begin implementing key process improvements. • Build strong cross-functional partnerships across the business. Qualifications • CPA designation required • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including leadership roles. • Strong background in controllership and operational finance. • Experience in distribution, retail, or product-based environments preferred. • Experience with ERP systems (Syspro experience is an asset). • Proven ability to lead teams and drive process improvements.
