About Bearefoot
Bearefoot is a rapidly growing ecommerce company on a mission to help people reconnect with natural movement and the world around them through barefoot footwear.
We believe shoes should support the body’s natural function, not restrict it, and we’re building a global brand around that philosophy. Our mission is rooted in four core values: Purpose, Adventure, Love, and Mindfulness (PALM).
As our company continues through a high-growth stage, we’re looking for a highly capable Head of Operations to take ownership of the systems, workflows, and operational infrastructure that keep the business running smoothly behind the scenes.
This is not a standard corporate operations role.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, building systems, improving processes, and creating order from complexity.
The ideal head of operations is someone who takes ownership without waiting to be told what to do, thrives in fast-moving environments, and gets satisfaction from making a business run better every week.
If you’re the type of person who sees a messy process and immediately starts thinking about how to improve it, we want to hear from you.
The Role
You will work directly with the founder and gradually take ownership of day-to-day backend operations across the business.
During your first month, you’ll receive direct onboarding and operational training from the founder. The expectation is that by the end of this onboarding period, you’ll be operating independently and proactively managing operational workflows with minimal oversight.
The Goal
Build and run systems, processes, and operational visibility that allow the business to scale efficiently while reducing operational bottlenecks, recurring issues, and founder involvement in day-to-day operational firefighting.
This role is responsible for:
• Ecommerce operations and order management
• Refunds, exchanges, disputes, and customer issue workflows (with the support of an existing customer service team)
• Fulfillment and logistics coordination
• Operational reporting and KPI tracking
• Process documentation and SOP creation
• Workflow optimization and automation
• Vendor and supplier coordination
• Cross-functional operational problem solving
• Continuous improvement of systems and processes
Success within six months looks like:
• The founder is rarely involved in day-to-day operational issues
• Orders are processed accurately and efficiently
• Operational problems are identified proactively
• Key business metrics are visible to decision makers and tracked consistently
• Core workflows are documented, maintainable, and consistently followed across the business
• Operational gaps and inefficiencies are identified and improved proactively
• Manual work has been reduced through systems and automation
• Customer issues are resolved efficiently
• After-sales operational costs have decreased
Required Experience
• Shopify experience
• Ecommerce operations experience (3+ years ideally)
• Experience managing refunds, exchanges, disputes, and fulfillment workflows
• Strong Google Sheets skills
• Strong written and verbal English communication
• Ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously
• Experience working independently in a remote environment
Nice to Haves
• Shopify Flow
• Google Apps Script
• n8n
• AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, etc.)
• API integrations and automation
• Supplier and logistics management experience
Traits that Matter Most
1. Ownership. You take responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks.
2. Attention to Detail. You notice inconsistencies, catch mistakes, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
3. Problem Solving. You identify root causes, make decisions with incomplete information, and focus on solutions.
4. Process Orientation. You document what works, build repeatable systems, and continuously improve operations.
Team Values Working Style
At Bearefoot, we care deeply about how we work together, not just what gets done.
As a globally remote and fast-moving team, we value people who communicate clearly, operate with integrity, take ownership of outcomes, and contribute positively to the team environment.
Our values are grounded in:
• Purpose
• Adventure
• Love
• Mindfulness (PALM)
We are looking for candidates who are highly independent, operationally reliable, emotionally mature, and comfortable balancing speed with accountability in a remote work environment.
Because we operate as a global remote team, candidates should be flexible with business hours when operational needs require it.
This is not a fit for you if...
• You require constant direction
• You prefer strategy over execution
• You dislike operational detail
• You avoid accountability
• You wait for someone else to solve problems
• You prefer highly structured corporate environments
