About the Role Our client, a prominent agricultural enterprise, is seeking an experienced Senior Farm Operations Manager to oversee large-scale production operations in **Markham, Ontario**. This critical role involves managing all aspects of day-to-day farm activities, ensuring optimal crop yields, efficient resource utilization, and adherence to stringent quality and safety standards. You will lead a dedicated team of farm workers and supervisors, implementing best practices in cultivation, harvesting, and post-harvest handling. This is a hands-on management position requiring strong leadership, organizational skills, and a deep understanding of modern agricultural production systems. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing large agricultural operations within **Ontario**'s diverse farming landscape. Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage all daily farm operations, including crop planning, planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease control, and harvesting. Develop and implement operational plans and budgets to ensure profitability and efficiency for the **Markham, Ontario** facility. Supervise, train, and motivate farm staff, including crew leaders, equipment operators, and general farm laborers. Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. Manage the procurement and inventory of agricultural supplies, equipment, and machinery. Implement and maintain quality control measures throughout the production cycle. Monitor crop performance and environmental conditions, making timely adjustments to optimize growth and yield. Coordinate with sales and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of produce. Maintain detailed records of all farming activities, inputs, yields, and operational costs. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement new technologies to enhance operational efficiency. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Business Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in farm management, with at least 5 years in a senior supervisory role overseeing large-scale agricultural operations. Demonstrated expertise in crop production, including specific knowledge of crops grown in **Ontario**. Strong understanding of farm machinery operation, maintenance, and repair. Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff. Excellent organizational, planning, and decision-making abilities. Proficiency in farm management software and standard office applications. Knowledge of relevant agricultural regulations and best practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by seasonal demands.
