Job Title: Lead Electrician – New Commercial Construction
Job Description
This role is for a hands-on lead electrician who will work on the tools while supervising and directing a crew on a new commercial construction project. You will oversee electrical installations from rough-in to finish, ensure work meets code and safety standards, and coordinate day-to-day activities on site in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Responsibilities
• Lead and supervise an on-site electrical crew on new commercial construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
• Work on the tools daily, performing installations, repairs, and troubleshooting while providing guidance and support to crew members.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute electrical installations and layout.
• Run and bend conduit, including 4-inch conduit, in accordance with project requirements and electrical codes.
• Pull wire and cable for power, lighting, and systems, ensuring proper routing, labeling, and terminations.
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, lighting systems, and related equipment in commercial new builds and retrofit/renovation projects.
• Coordinate and oversee the installation of fire alarm systems and related components as required by project scope.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations, including proper use of WHMIS and CSTS practices.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues on site, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Communicate clearly with site personnel, other trades, and project stakeholders to coordinate schedules and resolve issues.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
• Drive to various job sites in your own vehicle and adapt to changing start times and project needs.
• Support project timelines by working overtime when required, especially during peak phases of the project.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
• AWP (Aerial Work Platform) certification.
• Fall Pro certification.
• Experience in data center or similar industrial/commercial projects.
• Strong foreman-level leadership skills, including crew coordination and on-site decision making.
• Experience with industrial installation and repair work.
• Comfort working with a variety of electrical systems, including lighting, cable installations, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment.

Work Environment
This role is based on active construction sites for new commercial builds, including projects such as a data center. You will work primarily day shifts, with start times that may vary depending on project needs (for example, 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., or 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.), so flexibility is essential. The position involves substantial overtime, typically after 44 hours per week, with frequent extended hours required to meet project deadlines. Work is performed in typical commercial construction conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, and varying weather, and requires adherence to all site safety protocols and use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
