Community Strategies is seeking a motivated Data Insights Analyst to support the division and department in making informed, data-driven decisions. In this position, you will utilize data analysis, visualization, and communication skills to uncover trends, pattens, and opportunities that drive operational efficiency, foster innovation, and support strategic growth. You will create interactive dashboards and reports, and deliver actionable, evidence-based recommendations that enhance service delivery and optimize resource allocation, to ensure the department delivers data-driven solutions and exceptional services to Calgarians. Primary duties include: • Conduct in-depth data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and correlations that support strategic decision-making. • Apply statistical and data analysis to drive business insights and forecasting accuracy. • Translate complex business challenges into analytical problems, working closely with partners including program leads, policy analysts, and senior leaders, to understand needs and deliver actionable recommendations. • Design and develop interactive dashboards, reports, and scorecards using best practices in data storytelling and standardized reporting. • Extract, clean, transform, and validate data from various sources, collaborating with data engineers to optimize pipelines and ensure data availability. • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including data dictionaries and metadata, to ensure transparency in data usage. • Develop user-friendly guides and tutorials to help non-technical partners navigate dashboards and interpret analytics reports. • Contribute to the development of new analytical methodologies and stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends. Qualifications • A completed 2-year diploma in Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field and at least 3 years of related experience in data collection, analysis and reporting; OR • A degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, or a related field and at least 1 year of related experience in data collection, analysis and reporting. • Intermediate proficiency with data analysis software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, SPSS, and SAS). • Proficiency with at least one programming language (e.g., SQL, Python, or R) is required. • Previous experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, BI LaunchPad) is an asset. • Certifications such as a Google Data Analytics Certificate, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, and SAS Certified Specialist would be considered assets. • Demonstrated professionalism, interpersonal skills, political acumen, ability to influence and build consensus, and commitment to fostering relationships across lines of service. • The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, along with the ability to work cross-functionally with business partners, engineers, and other interested parties. • Strong aptitude for turning business challenges into data questions and analytical solutions as well as translating complex data into clear, actionable insights. • Ability to work independently while remaining an engaged and effective team member.
