Location: Calgary, AB (on-site / flexible hours)
Our client, a fast-paced and seasonal organization, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support frontline operations and partner closely with leadership. This role is highly operational, with a strong focus on employee relations, workforce fluctuations, and supporting managers through complex people situations.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Operational Support
• Act as the primary HR contact for managers on all employee relations matters (conflicts, performance, terminations, resignations).
• Conduct and manage employee investigations (~2 per week on average).
• Coach managers through complex people issues and workplace conflicts.
• Support high-volume onboarding, offboarding, and seasonal workforce transitions.
Workforce & Business Support
• Support a highly seasonal workforce scaling from ~900 to 1700 employees.
• Manage high employee movement, including layoffs, rehires, and internal changes.
• Ensure accurate updates in HRIS (promotions, salary changes, organizational updates).
• Partner with payroll on compensation-related inquiries.
HR Systems & Projects
• Support adoption and optimization of the newly implemented HRIS (ADP).
• Contribute to HR process improvements and innovation initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal teams (TA, Training, Safety, WCB) to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications
Experience
• 5–15+ years of HR experience, ideally in a HRBP or Generalist role.
• Strong background in employee relations and manager coaching (must-have).
• Experience in high-volume, operational environments (e.g., oil&gas, construction, industrial, blue-collar workforce) strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to handle complex, fast-paced, and ambiguous situations.
Education
• Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Technical Skills
• Experience with ADP or another HRIS system (strong asset).
• Solid knowledge of HR best practices, employment standards, and workplace investigations.
• Comfortable using HR systems and supporting system-related transitions.
Profile & Personality
• Highly reactive, hands-on, and solutions-oriented.
• Strong resilience and ability to manage challenging situations calmly.
• Comfortable working with blue-collar workforces and operational leaders.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Able to quickly understand business structure and adapt to changing priorities.
Work Environment
• Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (flexible: 7:00–4:00 or 9:00–6:00).
• Model: Primarily on-site to support operations.
• Fast-paced, high-volume, and operationally driven environment.
Compensation & Benefits
• Salary:$80,000 – $105,000 (depending on level of experience)
• Bonus: eligible
• Benefits: immediately available
• RRSP: 6% employer contribution (after 1 year, negotiable)
• Vacation: 3 weeks + office closure during Christmas/New Year
• Additional perks include shortened hours during long weekends
