Marketing Analyst
Spartan is seeking an individual to fulfill the responsibilities of a Marketing Analyst to join the Marketing & Joint Venture team. This role is primarily responsible for coordination of the physical movements of produced commodities, monitoring and reporting on pricing, and supporting commercial operations and strategic business decisions.
This is a full-time, in-office position based in our downtown Calgary location.
What You Will Do
• Coordinate and execute daily scheduling activities, including nominations, confirmations and balancing across pipelines, plants and counterparties across all SDE produced commodities
• Interface with pipeline, marketing, and trucking companies to ensure egress for all SDE production
• Monitor, track and report on developments impacting realized pricing and netbacks
• Responsible for transportation portfolio including forecasting requirements, managing commitments, and optimization
• Responsible for month-end volume and pricing confirmations, monthly pricing accrual, and netback forecasting
• Liaise with Operations, Accounting, Production and Corporate Planning groups to provide marketing and logistics support
• Support daily trade input and tracking, and monitor sales positions for gas, oil and NGLs and their related nominations
• Support Marketing and Joint Venture team with strategic decision making and value creation opportunities through pricing and contract analysis
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and with industry peers
Who You Are
• Minimum of 4 years of analyst experience with a strong business and financial mindset
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce or Economics is preferred
• Strong understanding of data modeling and analytics
• Experience with Oil, Gas or NGL nominations systems (Petrotranz, NGTL)
• Ability to organize large amounts of data and present concise summaries
• Advanced Excel skills with a demonstrated ability to develop, interpret and communicate analysis
• Experience in computer programming would be considered an asset
• A self-starter with a results-oriented work style combined with strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work outside of regular business hours to provide evening weekend coverage from time-to-time
