About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Protection Engineer to support enterprise backup and data protection operations in a large-scale infrastructure environment. This role focuses on administering backup platforms, onboarding applications, ensuring backup compliance, managing storage capacity, and driving operational efficiency through automation.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Commvault, Data Domain, NetBackup, or IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM), along with expertise in enterprise backup infrastructure and capacity management.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical backup solutions.
• Onboard applications to enterprise backup platforms.
• Configure, administer, and support enterprise backup environments.
• Ensure backup policies comply with immutability and data protection standards.
• Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot issues, and resolve failures.
• Manage backup storage capacity, licensing, and performance metrics.
• Create and maintain operational dashboards, reports, scorecards, and runbooks.
• Perform backup lifecycle management, including cleanup and capacity optimization.
• Deploy and support backup infrastructure as required.
• Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Ansible, or similar scripting tools.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams, application owners, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable backup services.
• Provide technical guidance and support for complex backup and infrastructure issues.
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of overall IT experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Commvault, Data Domain, NetBackup, or IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM).
• Experience supporting enterprise data protection and backup infrastructure in large organizations.
• Strong understanding of backup administration, recovery processes, and data protection best practices.
• Experience with capacity planning, storage forecasting, reporting, and dashboard creation.
• 3+ years of automation and scripting experience using PowerShell, Ansible, or similar tools.
• Experience analyzing business requirements and implementing technical solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in Banking or Financial Services environments.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting and Pivot Tables.
