Reporting to the Human Resources (HR) Leader - Pensions & Benefits, the HR Business Specialist provides specialized support related to Benefits Administration programs, processes, and systems. Working closely with Human Resources Support Services (HRSS), Benefits staff, external vendors, and other interested parties, this position supports the delivery of accurate and effective benefits services, coordinates specialized processes, investigates complex issues and escalations, and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement in training, business processes and technology. Primary duties include: • Provide advanced support, coaching and guidance to HRSS staff in all benefits-related inquiries and transactional matters. • Train HRSS staff to ensure effective use of PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) / Benefits Administration. • Investigate and resolve complex benefits cases, escalations, and system-related issues. • Monitor Human Resources Help Desk (HRHD) cases, benefit transactions, and assigned activities to ensure effective resolution of client requests. • Coordinate cyclical benefits processes including Annual Benefits Enrollment, Flexible Spending Account and Wellness Accounts, and other cyclical processes. • Liaise with internal partners, external carriers and payroll to resolve issues and support program administration. • Support with documenting the Benefits Administration processes and procedures. • Assist with developing, facilitating, and maintaining Benefits & Pensions Inquiries training and Benefits Transactions training. • Help with HCM Benefits Administration testing for Remedy tickets and upgrades. Qualifications • A completed 1-year certificate in Human Resources or a related field, plus at least 5 years' experience; OR a completed 2-year diploma plus at least 4 years' experience; OR a degree plus at least 1 year of experience. • Experience working with Pensions & Benefits Administration processes, programs, and systems, including benefits transactions, client support, and issue resolution. • Familiarity with HR functions and associated policies and procedures and familiarity with the application/interpretation of collective agreements is required. • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). • Intermediate proficiency with PeopleSoft HCM or an equivalent benefit administration system, and PeopleSoft Help Desk is considered an asset. • Experience providing training, coaching, or operational support would be considered an asset. • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and customer service skills. • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
