Director of Finance And Accounting

POSITION: Director of Finance LOCATION: Mississauga, ON (on-site position) MacDonald Search Group is a national permanent placement recruiting firm and we recruit on behalf of hiring companies. Our client is a well-established and growing national distributor of industrial products selling to critical sectors such as municipal water/wastewater, oil and gas, food and beverage manufacturing, and energy and they are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Finance to manage a team of 6. Reporting directly to the President, this role will lead all aspects of financial management, reporting, planning, and business performance. MUST HAVEs: CPA; hands on approach; 5+ years of people leadership experience; distribution experience. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Providing financial leadership and strategic support to the executive team. • Leading budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and business performance analysis. • Managing accounting operations, cash flow, working capital, and financial controls. • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, taxation requirements, and corporate governance practices. • Identifying opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and financial performance. • Driving process improvements, system enhancements, and finance transformation initiatives. • Supporting growth strategies, capital planning, and key business decisions through financial analysis. • Developing and leading a high-performing finance and accounting team. REQUIREMENTS: • CPA designation – mandatory • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in finance and accounting • Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls • Experience leading accounting operations in a fast-paced business environment • Knowledge of corporate taxation, sales tax regulations, and regulatory compliance requirements • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems, financial software, and Excel • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders • Proven ability to lead teams and drive operational improvements Why Consider This Opportunity? • Executive-level visibility and influence • Opportunity to partner directly with senior leadership • Broad scope across strategy, finance, and operations • Growing organization with strong long-term potential Compensation: • Negotiable base salary based on experience (~130-140K) • Annual bonus 15-20% • Benefits & RRSP plan If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, please apply online.
