About this role

ABOUT KITS KITS is a fast-growing, TSX-listed direct-to-consumer retailer of prescription eyewear, serving customers across Canada and the United States. By combining a seamless digital experience with vertically integrated manufacturing and rapid fulfilment, KITS is redefining how people access vision care — making high-quality eyewear stylish, accessible, and affordable at scale. We move fast, make decisions with data, and build teams that take ownership end to end. THE ROLE As our Digital Product Designer, you will be the craft lead and hands-on builder of the experiences that connect KITS customers to the products that help them see the world and express who they are. You will own design end-to-end across two distinct brands; setting the visual language, maintaining the design systems, and driving execution from first concept through engineering handoff and live QA. Your work will shape how KITS shows up online, influencing the product roadmap, elevating the eCommerce experience, and defining what great digital design looks like at scale. You'll bring deep craft, a rigorous user-first instinct, and the ability to move fast without losing quality. You thrive in environments where the infrastructure is still being built — and you see that as an opportunity to define it, not a reason to wait. You'll bring deep craft, a rigorous user-first instinct, and the ability to move fast without losing quality. You thrive in environments where the infrastructure is still being built — and you see that as an opportunity to define it, not a reason to wait. WHAT YOU'LL DO Design Strategy and Execution • Drive the full design lifecycle from initial concept through engineering handoff: user research, wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and production-ready mockups. • Translate complex business requirements and user needs into elegant, intuitive digital experiences — balancing craft with velocity. • Define and frame design problems clearly for cross-functional partners, shaping the brief as much as responding to it. Design System Ownership • Own, build, and evolve the KITS and OptiContacts/ContactsExpress design libraries in Figma — maintaining consistency, scalability, and documentation across both brands. • Be the standard-bearer for design quality and brand integrity across every digital touchpoint. Cross-Functional Partnership • Work daily alongside product, mareting, and engineering to define direction, resolve design challenges, and launch experiences that are both beautiful and buildable. • Provide thorough QA on staged implementations — reviewing live environments against design intent, identifying discrepancies, and driving resolution before launch. • Brief engineering teams with professional, well-organized design files that make handoff a strength, not a friction point. Insight, Measurement and Improvement • Lead user research and user feedback evaluation, translating qualitative and quantitative data into actionable design decisions. • Conduct postmortem analysis on shipped experiences — assessing design implementation performance, surfacing learnings, and feeding insights back into the next cycle. • Report weekly on completed deliverables, keeping stakeholders aligned and the pipeline moving. WHO YOU ARE • You are a designer who takes ownership seriously. You have moved past waiting to be told what to build — you identify the problem, frame the solution, and deliver with conviction. You care about the details, you work fast without cutting corners, and you know how to bring cross-functional partners along without slowing down. • You bring 5+ years of experience in digital product design or UX/UI, with a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership across web or app experiences — not just execution, but thinking. • You are an expert Figma user: your files are organized, your libraries are maintainable, and your handoffs are clean. • You have owned a design system before — built it, documented it, maintained it across a living product, and defended its consistency under pressure. • You hold a post-secondary credential in Design, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience at the same standard. • You work fluidly across product, marketing, and engineering stakeholders — you can speak the language of all three and you know how to influence decisions without authority. • You are as comfortable with ambiguity as you are with a fully-scoped brief — you shape the former and execute the latter with equal quality. Nice to Have • Front-end development experience (HTML/CSS) — bridging the design-to-dev gap from both sides. • Experience working inside a DTC e-commerce or retail brand, where design decisions have direct commercial impact. • Exposure to multi-brand or multi-product design environments. COMPENSATION The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $70,700 – $101,000. Final compensation will depend on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and qualifications. BENEFITS AND PERKS • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits • Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) • Access to an on-site gym • Company-paid lunch every day at HQ • Discounts on KITS frames and contact lenses • Real paths for growth — across design, product, and beyond. KITS promotes from within across functions. • A team that moves fast, holds the bar high, and believes the best design decision is the one that ships. KITS is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome all applicants regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, political beliefs, family or marital status, religion, physical disability, mental disability, or age. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace and we value the perspectives and backgrounds our team brings.
