About this role

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records related to 2 property portfolios, ensuring accuracy in accounting processes, and supporting financial reporting. This role requires a background in accounting software and financial analysis, with an emphasis on residential rental accounting. The Property Accountant will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial data, performing reconciliations, and supporting budgeting and auditing activities to ensure compliance and operational efficiency. Responsibilities • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable for property portfolios, ensuring timely processing and accuracy. • Utilize Spectra to record and maintain financial transactions. • Perform account reconciliation and bank reconciliation to verify the accuracy of financial data across multiple accounts. • Prepare detailed account analysis reports to identify discrepancies or variances in financial statements. • Assist with budgeting processes, forecasting, and financial planning related to property assets. • Support auditing activities by providing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with internal controls and external regulations. • Conduct bookkeeping tasks including journal entries, ledger management, and maintaining organized financial records. • Collaborate with property management teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely resolution of issues related to billing or payments. • Support month-end and year-end closing procedures while ensuring adherence to accounting standards. Experience • Proven experience working as a Property Accountant or in a similar accounting role within real estate or property management industries would be an asset. • Proficiency or prior experience with Spectra accounting software would be an advantageous. • Strong knowledge of accounts payable/receivable processes, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis. • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
