Role Description The Assistant Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Mississauga, ON. This position supports day-to-day operations of shipping container unloading, including organizing schedules, dispatching technicians and unloading containers themselves. Responsibilities include overseeing unloading work by unloading technicians, ensuring safety procedures are followed, responding to staff and client questions, replying to client service requests, and helping train and hire new staff. The role also involves tracking performance metrics, helping resolve on-site issues, and stepping in to help with the container unloading work if need be. The Assistant Operations Manager works closely with the Operations Manager (based in Vancouver, BC) to maintain smooth operations and ensure high-quality service delivery. Qualifications • Experience in operations, logistics, warehousing, or a related field, with the ability to coordinate daily activities and manage priorities. • Strong organizational and time management skills, including scheduling crews through our scheduling app, monitoring progress and promptly responding to urgent matters. • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to work with on-site teams, supervisors, and clients in a clear and respectful manner. • Knowledge of safe material handling practices and a strong commitment to health and safety standards in an industrial or warehouse environment. • Basic proficiency with computers and mobile devices for scheduling, training staff and emailing clients. • Demonstrates problem-solving abilities and attention to detail when conducting container unloading work, assessing staff performance and providing constructive feedback where needed. • Ability to work on-site in a physically active environment, including standing and walking for extended periods. • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is an asset, as is experience in container unloading or freight handling. • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certifications in logistics, warehousing, or safety are considered an advantage.
