About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Manager, Finance & Operations to lead key financial processes while overseeing office operations and facilities management for our client, a well-established organization located in Toronto's Yorkville district.
This role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys balancing strategic leadership with day-to-day operational involvement. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, reporting integrity, process improvement, and efficient office operations. Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Accounting
Lead and oversee daily finance and accounting operations.
Manage reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and cash management activities.
Coordinate and review bank transactions and account reconciliations.
Ensure accurate allocation of revenues and expenses.
Oversee tax compliance, remittances, and annual tax reporting requirements.
Schedule and coordinate financial processes to ensure all reporting deadlines are met.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial governance practices.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, legislation, regulations, and organizational policies.
Assist with year-end audit preparation and external reporting requirements.
Process Improvement & Systems
Review existing finance processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and process documentation.
Support implementation of new systems, upgrades, and process enhancements.
Monitor data integrity and ensure financial systems are operating effectively.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and operational improvements.
Operations & Facilities Management
Oversee office operations to ensure an organized, efficient, and professional work environment.
Manage vendor relationships, procurement activities, contract negotiations, and service agreements.
Oversee office supplies, equipment, inventory, mailroom functions, and storage management.
Act as the primary liaison with building management regarding facilities-related matters.
Coordinate workspace planning, office improvements, and facility maintenance.
Assist with insurance renewals and operational reporting requirements.
Leadership
Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for finance and administrative staff.
Promote cross-training and knowledge sharing to ensure business continuity.
Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented team culture.
Support special projects and organizational initiatives as required.
Qualifications
CPA designation is required.
University degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline.
5–7 years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
Minimum 1–2 years of people management or supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, and accounting best practices.
Experience managing tax compliance, remittances, and regulatory reporting.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with financial/accounting software.
Experience supporting system implementations, upgrades, or process improvements is highly desirable.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
