About the Role Our client, a renowned organic farm collective on the outskirts of Vancouver, British Columbia , is seeking an accomplished and visionary Lead Farm Operations Manager. This critical role demands extensive experience in large-scale organic farming, a passion for sustainable agriculture, and the leadership skills to manage a diverse team. The successful candidate will oversee all day-to-day operations, from planting and cultivation to harvesting and distribution, ensuring the highest standards of quality and ecological integrity. Key Responsibilities Direct and manage all aspects of farm operations, including crop planning, soil health management, pest and disease control, irrigation, and harvesting. Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize crop yields, quality, and resource utilization in alignment with organic certification standards. Supervise, train, and mentor farm staff, including supervisors, field technicians, and seasonal workers, fostering a culture of safety and high performance. Manage the farm's budget, including procurement of seeds, fertilizers, equipment, and supplies, ensuring cost-effectiveness and sustainability. Oversee the maintenance and repair of all farm machinery, equipment, and infrastructure, ensuring operational readiness. Ensure strict adherence to all organic certification requirements and relevant agricultural regulations. Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to align production schedules with market demand and ensure timely delivery of produce. Implement and promote best practices in water conservation, soil regeneration, and biodiversity enhancement on the farm. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. At least 10 years of hands-on experience in commercial farming, with a significant focus on organic or sustainable agricultural practices. Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale farm operations, including team leadership and budget management. In-depth knowledge of organic farming principles, crop rotation, integrated pest management, and soil fertility. Proficiency in farm management software and technologies. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to motivate and manage a diverse workforce. Ability to work effectively in demanding physical conditions and varying weather across Vancouver, BC 's agricultural regions.
