About this role

We’re Hiring a Finance & Accounting Manager Atlantic Gate is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Finance and Accounting Manager to join our ambitious Montreal team. We are a globally active freight forwarding company with a strong focus on sea freight, combining international reach with an entrepreneurial, hands‑on culture. Our Montreal office is home to a small, dedicated team where individual contributions truly matter and decisions are made quickly. Your Role & Responsibilities In this key role, you will lead the local finance function and act as a trusted business partner to management and HQ. Your responsibilities will include: • Leading financial reporting in line with IFRS and local GAAP, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance • Managing the month‑end closing process and ensuring timely reporting to headquarters • Preparing and analysing management reports, budgets, and rolling forecasts (RFC) • Continuously analysing financial results, identifying key performance drivers, risks, and optimization opportunities • Ensuring high accounting quality and maintaining robust internal control systems • Supporting internal and external audits • Overseeing daily accounting operations, including accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, and reconciliations • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring proper booking of all business transactions • Leading, coaching, and developing a small accounting team • Managing relationships with external service providers (tax, audit, payroll) • Providing management with relevant financial insights to support informed strategic and operational decisions Who We’re Looking For We’re looking for a proactive, hands‑on finance qualified who enjoys taking ownership and making an impact. The ideal candidate brings: • A strong background in accounting and financial management, combining analytical depth with business acumen • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a Master’s degree or professional certification (CPA, CMA, or equivalent) is a strong asset • At least 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, controlling, or financial management • Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, or a similar operational environment (preferred) • Solid knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP, with a strong focus on reporting quality and compliance • Experience with month‑end closings, budgeting, and forecasting processes • The ability to analyse financial data, identify key drivers and risks, and translate insights into action • Familiarity with SAP FC and/or CargoWise is a plus • Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency in MS Office • Fluency in English, written and spoken (French is an advantage but not mandatory) • A structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style, with strong attention to detail • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with local teams, HQ, and external partners • Proven ability to lead, support, and motivate a small team in a reliable and collaborative manner • A mindset suited to a dynamic, growing company, where flexibility, initiative, and ownership are valued What We Offer • A key role in a growing international company • Flat hierarchies and short decision‑making processes • Flexible working hours and remote work options • Tailored training and development opportunities • A collaborative environment where your contribution truly makes a difference
