About this role

The Master Electrician, Field and Operations leads the Ontario in-house team and projects by providing technical expertise, operational oversight, and guidance to field employees. The role ensures projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and company standards. In addition, the role promotes operational excellence by driving consistency, quality, safety, and continuous improvement across all field operations. As the primary technical resource for the organization, the Field Supervisor serves as the first point of contact for troubleshooting and technical support for subcontractors and clients across Canada. Travel Requirements: This position requires regular travel throughout Ontario and occasional out-of-province travel to support project and business needs. WHAT WE OFFER • Competitive compensation and benefits package including health, dental, health spending account (HSA), and access to Employee Assistance Program (EAP) • Well-equipped with in-house tools, vehicle, and resources needed to perform your best • A collaborative, supportive, and team-oriented work environment • Be part of amission-driven companydedicated to expanding solar energy solutions across Canada KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Field Work • Ability to interpret project plans, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation. • Install, commission, and service renewable energy systems including grid-connected, hybrid, and off-grid systems. • Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults, commissioning issues, and service-related issues in coordination with manufacturers and suppliers. • Complete electrical upgrades including panel replacements, meter base upgrades, backup generators, and EV charger installations. • Ensure all installations comply with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, ESA requirements, engineering drawings, and company standards, and applicable regulations. • Serve as the technical authority for installation practices, field execution, and compliance with applicable provincial legislation, electrical codes, and national standards. Operations & Project Coordination • Plan and manage daily field schedules, crew assignments, and resource allocation. • Collaborate with project managers, internal team, suppliers, inspectors, utility services, subcontractors, and customers to ensure timely project completion. • Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve field issues or scheduling conflicts. • Coordinate the availability of materials, equipment, tools, and project resources to support efficient project execution. • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance field productivity and operational efficiency. Leadership & Contractor Management • Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to the in-house team. • Train and onboard new team members on Xolar standards, safety practices, and installation procedures. • Support recruitment efforts to build the Ontario field team. • Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities for field staff. • Primary technical resource for subcontractors by providing guidance, clarification, and field support as required. • Review completed work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance, and address performance or workmanship issues with employees and subcontractors. Quality, Safety, and Compliance • Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies, procedures, and legislative requirements. • Promote safe work practices and ensure proper use of PPE, tools, and safety equipment. • Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites. Administration & Documentation • Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and field processes. • Maintain accurate project records, including costs of materials and fuel, expenses, field reports, and commissioning documentation. • Update the CRM and internal systems with project progress, photos, and required documentation. • Assist in developing installation standards, quality checklists, and field documentation. • Prepare reports and provide recommendations to improve field operations and department performance. REQUIREMENTS • Valid certification(s): Electrical contractor license in good standing (Master Electrician), Working at Heights/Fall Protection, and WHMIS • Must possess a valid G driver’s license and reliable vehicle • Willing and able to travel throughout Ontario and occasionally outside the province, as required by business and project needs. • Experience in residential solar installations or related electrical/construction work • Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and manufacturer installation requirements • Ability to lift solar modules (up to 50 lbs) and perform basic math calculations • Comfortable working at heights, including climbing ladders and performing work on residential and commercial rooftops.
