Role Description
The Senior Software Engineer / Tech Lead will design, develop, and maintain systems and services that power AI-driven solutions for dental labs. This full-time remote role includes leading technical architecture decisions, implementing robust and scalable software, and ensuring code quality through reviews and best practices. The role involves collaborating with product, research, and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical designs, integrating AI components, and optimizing performance and reliability. The Senior Engineer / Tech Lead will mentor other engineers, establish development standards, and contribute to continuous improvement of the engineering process. Participation in technical planning, documentation, and troubleshooting production issues is also a key part of the day-to-day responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and ship production-grade systems across our Node/TypeScript + PostgreSQL + AWS stack
• Own core services end-to-end: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and reliability
• Harden security posture: least-privilege IAM, secrets management, audit logging
• Set engineering standards through code reviews, architecture decisions, and CI/CD
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team
Qualifications
• 7+ years shipping production software, with real depth in backend and cloud infrastructure
• Strong hands-on AWS: IAM, S3, RDS/Aurora, secrets management. You know how to run systems securely, not just stand them up
• Security-first mindset: least-privilege IAM design, secrets rotation, audit logging, and incident response experience
• Fluency in our stack: Node/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS (bonus: EventBridge, Cognito, Cedar/AVP)
• Strong CS foundation: data structures, algorithms, software architecture, and design patterns
• Hands-on Cloud Application Development: building APIs, working with databases and cloud services
• Ownership of automated testing (E2E/integration) and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience leading technical projects or teams: code reviews, mentoring, and setting engineering standards
• Comfort inheriting and owning existing codebases with limited documentation; strong autonomy under ambiguity
• Comfort working remotely, with strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional teams
• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience
Strongly preferred
• Healthcare or regulated-data experience (privacy/compliance-aware development)
• Familiarity with AI/ML integration, distributed systems, or high-performance computing
