About the position WF Crane and Service is a leading service provider of overhead cranes located throughout Canada. With a proven history that spans over 30 years, they are renowned for their safety, quality, service, and innovative approaches. They are a privately owned and operated Canadian company. An opportunity currently exists for a Crane Technician for their Langley location. They are offering a competitive hourly rate, plus overtime and benefits. The position is based in the Langley area, but travel will be required around British Columbia and Alberta. Responsibilities • Maintenance, service, modification and fault finding of electrical control systems on a variety of overhead cranes, hoists and other material handling equipment. • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits and feeders that form parts of overhead cranes. • Test electrical components that form parts of overhead cranes for continuity, current, voltage and resistance. • Maintain, repair, install and test switchgears, transformers, switchboard meters and regulators that form parts of overhead cranes. • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems, and other related devices that form parts of overhead cranes. • Tending to regular service customers who rely on WF Crane and Service for breakdown assistance, and service and/or repairs of their existing cranes. Requirements • A proven track record in a similar role. • Able to read schematic diagrams and blue prints. • Competent electrical knowledge, servicing of lifting equipment. • Experience with lifting equipment, their control systems and types. • A good problem solver. • Able to use basic computer/tablet programs. • A diligent worker who can operate within a team or autonomously as required. • An investigative nature and a general interest in engineering and its applications. • Highly developed communication skills in English, both in written and verbal situations. • Pass a pre-screen drug & alcohol test. Nice-to-haves • A good understanding of mechanical engineering is an essential requirement. • A good natural communicator. • A keenness to continue training on new equipment and legislation. • A flexible approach to working out of hours, site work, and overnight stays etc. • Comfortable working at heights. • The ability to work in a safety sensitive role at all times.
