About the position
This job posting is for an existing vacancy. The Human Resources Co-op will be responsible for organizing onboarding activities, providing administrative support for training programs, assisting with health and safety procedures, supporting the Employee Recognition Program, and serving as a point of contact for employee inquiries. The role also involves preparing communications, assisting with meeting organization, performing data entry, and maintaining confidentiality. The co-op will work in an environment that is 80% office and 20% manufacturing floor, requiring the use of appropriate PPE. The position requires current enrollment in a post-secondary Human Resources program or related field, a strong interest in HR legal compliance, excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities
• Organize onboarding activities, including new hire documentation and orientation sessions
• Provide administrative support for training programs, ensuring accurate scheduling and record-keeping
• Assist the Human Resources Manager with the development, training and implementation of health and safety procedures
• Support administration of Employee Recognition Program
• Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries, maintaining an approachable and helpful demeanor
• Prepare memos and postings, and ensure all communication channels are regularly updated, including communication boards
• Assist the Human Resources Manager with administrative support as required
• Provide support when needed in organizing meetings, including boardroom bookings, ordering lunch, etc.
• Perform data entry activities as required
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all information obtained, written or verbal, with in the HR Department
• Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promoting safety in the workplace
• Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behavior
• Participate in and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
• Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards
• Perform other duties as required
Requirements
• Currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary program in Human Resources, or a related field.
• Strong interest in Human Resources legal compliance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
Nice-to-haves
• Previous co-op or volunteer experience in a HR related role is an asset.
