Job #5064 – We’ve partnered with a well-established, highly respected organization to recruit an Intermediate Accountant for a full-time, permanent position. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative finance team supporting a diverse portfolio of complex construction and development projects! This role is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys taking ownership of project accounting responsibilities. You'll play a key role in project budgeting, financial reporting, and month-end activities while providing accurate financial insights that support strategic business decisions. The successful candidate will bring strong accounting knowledge, sound analytical skills, and experience supporting the financial management of construction or project-based operations. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the main responsibilities include:
Manage monthly construction draw preparation, ensuring accurate cost allocation, documentation, and timely submission
Compile and maintain monthly budget and financial reports for active construction projects
Process invoices, match POs and subcontractor agreements, and resolve discrepancies with vendors and stakeholders
Support accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice entry, payment tracking, and collections follow-up
Perform account and project reconciliations, including vendor statements, budgets, and cost-to-date reporting
Prepare journal entries and support month-end close activities such as accruals and adjustments
Assist with internal and external audit requirements by organizing documentation and responding to audit inquiries
Contribute to financial analysis, reporting, and ad hoc projects while supporting process improvements and system efficiencies
Qualifications
The main qualifications for this role include:
Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting required
Minimum 3-4 years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience within a project accounting environment
Proficiency with large ERP systems and Excel
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in Excel
How You Will Be Rewarded:
$70,000 - $80,000 annual salary range
