Direct message the job poster from Amaris Consulting ----------- We are seeking a skilled and motivated Locomotive Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, designing, testing, and improving the mechanical systems of locomotives. You will play a critical part in troubleshooting, refurbishment, component integration, and the development of technical solutions in collaboration with both internal teams and external stakeholders. This position demands strong mechanical expertise, a keen eye for detail, and excellent collaboration skills. Key Responsibilities: Overhaul and Troubleshooting • Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues in locomotive systems (engines, compressors, cooling systems, trucks, etc.). • Identify root causes of mechanical failures using diagnostic and fault-finding techniques. • Prepare inspection and rebuild documentation for mechanical systems. Design and Development • Contribute to the design and integration of locomotive sub-systems and structures. • Develop engineering documentation including schematics, diagrams, layouts, and 3D models. • Participate in component selection and mechanical integration processes. Testing and Validation • Plan and oversee testing of locomotives or sub-systems, including coordination with suppliers. • Ensure test setups align with required engineering and safety standards. • Instrument, monitor, and analyze test results; recommend improvements. • Produce comprehensive test reports and ensure quality of test equipment and measurements. Collaboration and Communication • Participate in technical meetings with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical support. • Offer guidance and mentorship to technicians and junior team members. • Drive alignment between project stakeholders on technical challenges and solutions. Profile Requirements: Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience. • Strong background in railway rolling stock or mass transit systems. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Electrical . • Ability to interpret diesel engine manuals, locomotive schematics, service bulletins, and maintenance instructions. • Familiarity with FRA regulations and internal company specifications. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Analytical mindset with the ability to work independently. • Able to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. • Bilingual proficiency in French and English , both written and spoken. • Customer-focused and results-driven.
