Salary Range: $141,835 - $200,238 per annum Reason for Job Posting: Vacancy Supply Ontario (SO) is seeking a strategic HR leader with proven knowledge and experience in labour management, relationship building and occupational health and safety. As a member of the HR leadership team, this role is critical to developing the employee and labour relations (ELR), as well as occupational health & safety (OHS) programs and initiatives that will continue to support Supply Ontario’s strategy. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, you will drive the development and implementation of the ELR and OHS programs, including plans, methods, tools, key performance indicators, metrics and processes to ensure SO leaders are enabled and equipped to manage employee and labour relations. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for fostering a healthy employee and labour relations strategy that not only aligns with SO’s organizational goals but mitigates risks and guides decisions. You will lead your team in occupational health services and programs, disability management, and wellness initiatives that address evolving workforce interests and trends to enable Supply Ontario to achieve best-in-class performance and efficiencies. Your key responsibilities will include: • Ensuring oversight and governance of ELR/OHS policies and practices, including the provision of advice on the interpretation and application of corporate policies and practices, collective agreements, employment laws, and other regulations. • Leading or overseeing the collective bargaining process with labour unions by developing and proposing strategies and recommendations to support negotiations and arbitrations and serving as a critical subject matter expert in areas of negotiations, labour contract administration, advice and counseling to key business stakeholders. • Managing the implementation of initiatives that promote and support the health and well-being of employees and the proactive management and delivery of occupational health services and programs including but not limited to abilities management/WSIB, wellness, absenteeism, and joint health and safety committees. • Working with the Chief Human Resources Officer in developing overall ELR/OHS operational plans and the development and reporting on performance metrics, program effectiveness, risks and impacts related to ELR/OHS programs and overall SO matters. • Managing financial and material resources and ensuring consistency in corporate requirements and approval processes for financial, human resources, information technology, operational and business planning functions. • Developing and managing relationships and consultation with stakeholders impacted by ELR/OHS programs, services, and initiatives to identify trends, issues, and needs. Partnering appropriately with legal counsel as needed. Successful candidates will demonstrate the following: • Degree in Labour Relations, Human Resources, or a related field. • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation is an asset. • Proven senior level experience with a minimum of 10 years in a large, complex, multi-union environment. • Strong working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines including but not limited to employment and labour law, collective agreement and collective agreement administration, collective bargaining, union-management relations, grievance management, occupational health and safety, and disability case management. • Strong knowledge of applicable provincial legislation including but not limited to the Ontario Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, and Occupational Health and Safety Act. • Strong conflict resolution, consulting, negotiation, communication, interpersonal skills and analytical techniques and approaches as well as the ability to foster dialogue, explore interests, and build relationships. • Ability to coach, consult and influence leaders regarding the importance of good ELR/OHS practices and the links to business success; ability to conduct effective presentations, facilitate meetings. • Ability to maintain productive working relationships with union leadership.
