About the Opportunity: We’re looking for a Vice President – Risk & Credit (North America) to lead the risk function across Canada and the USA, including Credit Risk, Operational Risk, and Risk Governance. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer (Australia), you will shape and execute the regional risk management framework to ensure outcomes remain within appetite while supporting commercial growth. In this role, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of Credit Risk and Operational Risk frameworks, ensuring policies, procedures, and controls are robust, effective, and aligned with corporate standards. You’ll monitor portfolio performance, investigate emerging trends, recommend improvements, and guide risk decisions on large exposure applications in partnership with Sales Leaders. You will also drive risk governance, presenting clear and actionable reporting to senior leadership and the Board, while promoting compliance with legislation and industry best practices. A key part of your impact will be uplifting risk culture across North America and building capability within the Credit/Risk team and the broader business. You’ll contribute to new market expansion, lead key risk initiatives and projects, and foster a proactive, customer‑centred control environment that supports safe and sustainable growth. What You’ll Need to Succeed: You are an experienced risk leader with a track record in financial services, delivering strong credit and operational risk outcomes across complex, growth‑oriented environments. You will bring: • 10+ years’ experience in financial services with exposure to commercial credit and risk management • Proven experience leading Credit and/or Risk teams in a financial services organisation • Advanced analytical capability—able to interpret complex datasets and turn insight into action • Expert understanding of credit analysis, policies, risk frameworks, and regulatory expectations • Strong grasp of financial distress indicators, loss drivers, and fraud risk • Excellent stakeholder influence, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills • Exceptional problem‑solving skills and attention to detail • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Economics or Business and/or relevant financial services certifications (well regarded, not essential) • Experience across Canada and the USA is highly valued; cross‑border exposure and working across time zones is an advantage Some travel across North America may be required, along with flexible collaboration with global teams (including Australia). This role can be based in either our Toronto or Vancouver office.
