Data Engineer, Data Platform Modernization (GCP): On behalf of our Banking client, Procom is searching for a Data Engineer, Data Platform Modernization (GCP) for a 5 month contract role. This position is a hybrid position with 2 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office. Data Engineer, Data Platform Modernization (GCP) - Job Description: The project involves the modernization of a data platform, focusing on setting up data pipelines to ingest large volumes of data from multiple on-premise applications into Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This is part of the International Banking Technology Transformation initiative aimed at enhancing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision-making. Data Engineer, Data Platform Modernization (GCP) - Responsibilities: • Function as a member of an agile team to drive consistent development practices and tool usage. • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to build scalable data ingestion pipelines. • Perform hands-on design and development using SQL/BigQuery/PySpark/Pandas and other data processing tools. • Set up ingestion pipelines using the medallion framework and automate data quality validation processes. • Perform testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to support BAU operations and continuous improvements. • Direct the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions and guide junior team members. Data Engineer, Data Platform Modernization (GCP) - Mandatory Skills: • 8-10 years of relevant work experience in data engineering. • Proven experience with data modernization projects and recent experience with GCP. • Strong hands-on experience with Python, Spark, Airflow, and advanced SQL. • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and cloud architectures. • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and Infrastructure as Code. • Knowledge of cloud security, data governance, and regulatory compliance in financial environments. • English proficiency: Intermediate (B2+) or higher. Data Engineer, Data Platform Modernization (GCP) – Nice-to-Have Skills: • Prior experience working in a regulated financial services or banking environment. • Experience working with Enterprise Data Lakes and Hadoop (HDFS/Hive). • GCP Professional Data Engineer certification. Data Engineer, Data Platform Modernization (GCP) – Assignment Length: This is a contract position from 06/29/2026 to 10/31/2026, with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs. Data Engineer, Data Platform Modernization (GCP) - Start Date: ASAP. Data Engineer, Data Platform Modernization (GCP) - Assignment Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
