About this role
Global Mechanical is a Winnipeg-based multi-trade mechanical contractor serving commercial and industrial customers. We are looking for a Service Manager to take ownership of day-to-day field operations.
The Service Manager will lead our services that include HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Millwright- each trade has a technical leader. The role includes managing technicians and dispatch, setting and monitoring schedules, maintaining labour and material control, and ensuring that every service call meets technical, safety, and customer requirements. The role balances office and field presence, combining planning, supervision, and coaching with hands-on support on more complex calls, start-ups, and investigations. The service manager works closely with ownership to achieve defined gross margin and growth targets for the service business and to build repeat, contract-based work.
The manager reviews work orders, service reports, and quotes, prices recommended work, and ensures the team accurately captures billable time, travel, and materials before jobs close and invoices go out. The position includes planning and renewing preventive maintenance agreements, coordinating shutdowns and inspections, and ensuring customers' equipment operates properly. The role includes monitoring key service metrics such as response time, first-visit completion, callback rates, and gross margin.
We are looking for someone with several years of field and managment experience, a trade ticket or equivalent technical background is required. To succeed, you will communicate clearly with technicians, customers, and suppliers. This role suits someone who takes a structured approach to scheduling and cost control and who wants to grow a service department over time rather than simply maintain the status quo.
This position includes a competitive base salary, a benefits package, vehicle and the opportunity to share in performance-based incentives. We offer a diverse, year-round mix of commercial and industrial customers, exposure to specialized systems such as paint booths and process ventilation, and the chance to refine and standardize service processes as the organization grows. You will work directly with ownership in a setting where decisions move quickly, feedback is direct, and successful processes and ideas can be implemented across the team without delays.
