About this role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nuclear engineering with extensive experience in high-voltage (HV) power systems (13 kV and above), switchyard design and operation, and complex bus configurations including transfer bus schemes. This role requires deep technical expertise, innovative thinking, and a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilitie
sHigh-Voltage System Design & Engineering
• :Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of high-voltage electrical systems (13 kV to transmission-level voltages), including switchyards, substations, and grid interconnections for nuclear power facilities
.Switchyard & Bus Systems Expertise
• :Design and support HV switchyard configurations, including transfer buses, breaker-and-a-half schemes, ring bus systems, and main-tie-main arrangements, ensuring high reliability and operational flexibility
.Project Management
• :Oversee and manage electrical engineering projects from concept through commissioning, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination of HV equipment procurement and installation
.Technical Support & Troubleshooting
• :Provide expert-level support for HV equipment such as breakers, disconnect switches, transformers, and protection systems. Troubleshoot issues related to power distribution, fault conditions, and system stability
.Protection & Control Systems
• :Develop and review protection schemes, relay coordination, and control systems for high-voltage networks, ensuring proper fault detection, isolation, and system integrity
.Safety and Compliance
• :Ensure all electrical systems meet nuclear, utility, and high-voltage safety standards, including arc flash, grounding, and insulation coordination studies
.Collaboration
• :Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate HV infrastructure with plant systems, grid requirements, and regulatory expectations
.Innovation & Optimization
• :Apply modern technologies and methodologies to improve HV system reliability, redundancy, and performance, particularly in critical nuclear applications
.Documentation
• :Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including single-line diagrams, protection coordination studies, switchyard layouts, and commissioning procedures
.Training and Mentorship
• :Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, particularly in high-voltage engineering practices and safety protocols
.
