Walsh & Company currently works 4-day weeks May-December, and 5-day weeks January-April. We are open to a part-time schedule but would ask for increased hours during the months of March and April.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Accountant is responsible and accountable for:
• Planning, organizing and implementing the tasks to deliver on time, on budget execution while providing exceptional customer service.
• Always acting in Walsh & Company’s best interests.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Year-end engagements
• Plan, prepare and index information for compilation, review and audit engagements
• Prepare accurate and properly formatted financial statements with appropriate disclosures and ensure that CPA Canada Handbook principles are followed where appropriate
• Reconcile investment schedules
Tax
• Prepare corporate, personal, partnership and trust tax returns
• Assist with personal and corporate tax planning
• Prepare tax research where required to respond to client queries
• Prepare various tax election forms
Supervision
• Supervise, train, develop and mentor co-op students and other junior staff
• May be required to step into any role within the firm in order to support the team as needed.
Other
• Communicate effectively with clients to obtain information and provide basic advice
• Prepare/review ongoing payroll as necessary for clients
• Interact with all levels of staff, including partners, on client and administrative matters
• Provide input into staff performance reviews
QUALIFICATIONS
• University degree
• 2 to 4 years of experience in public accounting
• An uncompromised level of honesty and integrity
• Accepts the responsibility and accountability of the Position
• Consummate professional in every way (demeanor, attire, written and verbal communication, meeting deadlines, adapting to one’s environment and being a role model to staff/clients, etc.)
• A track record of success in people and performance management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills; habit of effectively managing multiple projects and deadlines - must be detail orientated
• Internally motivated to deliver accurate results in a highly efficient manner on time and on budget
• Demonstrates courage and problem solving skills when confronting performance issues
• Demonstrated ability to schedule, delegate and oversee on time, on budget delivery
• Comfortable working independently and within a team environment
• Must be able to manage multiple priorities and conflicting demands in an environment that requires adaptability

• Evaluates and recommends/makes improvements to processes while ensuring that practices comply with corporate accounting policies and applicable laws and regulations

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
