Responsibilities
Communicate with clients and discuss options, strategies, and solutions at key junctures of their case so they understand their options and make an informed decision.
Provide top-tier client services, including attending mediations, discoveries, and other court proceedings.
Prepare legal documents and pleadings; such as applications, answers, briefs, motion materials, affidavits, etc.
Handle files from start to finish.
Handle all aspects of files, from intake to resolution, with minimal supervision.
Prepare clients for hearings and trials.
Attend conferences and trials.
Review and prepare materials including pleadings, affidavits, briefs, facta, and other court documents, and organize disclosure.
Prioritize case files and handle sensitive information in a time-sensitive manner.
Communicate professionally and courteously with clients and outside counsel.
Qualifications
LL.B. or J.D. from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
Experience in one of the areas of law mentioned above.
Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Reliability, organization skills, the ability to prioritize, multitask, and adhere to strict deadlines.
Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, coworkers, and other professionals.
Ability to prepare clients for questioning, mediations and all court appearances.
Solid research skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
