Logistics Manager – Construction Materials
Responsibilities
• Develop logistics plans and contingency strategies
• Plan, schedule and coordinate deliveries to customer job sites
• Oversee loading and unloading activities, including ports, yards and job sites
• Supervise preventative maintenance procedures, including pre/post trip inspections
• Monitor inventory levels and maintain records for materials in transit and on site
• Resolve delivery issues and ensure stakeholders are updated on status
• Coordinate with Operations teams on handling, storage and distribution of materials
• Hire, lead, coach and support staff
• Ensure staff training is completed, including H&S, operational procedures and other competencies as required by position
• Evaluate, negotiate contracts, coordinate and manage transportation vendors
• Education and enforcement of health and safety regulations, best practices and company policies & procedures designed to promote a secure work environment
• Support continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage logistics budget
Qualifications
• Degree or diploma in logistics, supply chain or related discipline
• Certifications in logistics or supply chain preferred
• 5+ years of logistics leadership experience in construction, raw materials, aggregates or related space
• Proven staff management experience
• Strong knowledge of Ontario’s transportation laws
• Experience with international shipping, including seaway, ports, customs
• Proficiency with office productivity tools, including word, excel, outlook
Workplace
• Primarily working in the office, with occasional trips to yards and customer sites
• Occasionally requires extended hours
