As a Backend Software Engineer on the AirCover Claims Platform team, you will be a key contributor in shaping and building experiences for AirCover for Hosts, which ensures hosts receive fast, fair, and reliable support whenever a reservation doesn’t go as planned. You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, and Operations to design, build, and maintain the backend services that power our next generation of claim experiences.
Responsibilities:
• Design and implement clear, scalable APIs and backend services that power core claim workflows
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Operations, Data Science, and Engineering teams to define requirements, develop technical designs, and deliver high-quality features from concept to production
• Write clean, well-tested code and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence through thoughtful code reviews and shared best practices
• Instrument and monitor services to ensure reliability, performance, and observability in production
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of backend software development experience
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Kotlin, Java, or Python
• Strong understanding of microservices and Kubernetes with experience working on APIs and end-to-end development from developing to testing
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing high-throughput APIs, data pipelines, and distributed systems
Comfort working across the backend stack to diagnose and solve complex technical challenges
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; adept at collaborating in design discussions, working sessions, and code reviews

Pay Rate Range: CAD $90-$111/hr
