About the position
This is an opportunity for a curious and diligent recent graduate or a CPA student to take on a financial planning & analysis role with significant potential for growth. The successful candidate will benefit from significant interaction with the CFO, CEO, senior management, and external stakeholders as a highly visible member of a small finance team.
Responsibilities
• Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for internal stakeholders (senior management) and external stakeholders (Lenders, Owners). This includes monthly financial reporting packages; weekly cash reporting; regular cash forecasting; lender reporting; board reporting packages.
• Meet with managers on a regular basis to review their departments’ financial and KPI performance
• Work closely with the accounting team to implement improvements to posting practices based on internal user input
• Participating in the annual budget process; meet with internal managers to collect input; update, improvement, and maintenance of templates
• Support ad-hoc analysis and preparation of presentations for senior users (including board-level materials)
• Support the month-end process as required
• Extract and prepare data from various operational sources; upload to data warehouse; maintenance and update of mapping tables in data warehouse; make use of data warehouse to build reporting.
• Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree required in a quantitative discipline such as Finance, Business Management, Economics, or a related field
• CPA in progress or completed
• Candidate must have prior work experience as a financial analyst.
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc analysis
• Participation in / support of month-end close activities
• Strong MS Excel skills
• Experience with or interest in financial analysis and related tools – such as Power BI and equivalents, SQL and/or data warehousing tools, etc. a strong asset.
• Demonstrated ability to stay on task in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Ability to prioritize with multiple competing priorities.
• Strong oral and written communication skills. Proactive communicator with a keen sense of how to deeply connect with people and build trust. Able to effectively explain and articulate financial and business fundamentals to a variety of people, with varying degrees of financial and business knowledge, both internally and externally. Ability to build strong relationships and engage people across the organization and foster buy-in to new ideas and concepts.
• Respected for business ethics, integrity, and common-sense approach. Balances a can-do attitude with a pragmatic approach to getting work done in a timely manner. Is smart, practical, hardworking and can roll up their sleeves when required to meet objectives.
