Frontend Developer - HCI and 3D - Applicantz (Toronto)

Hybrid in Toronto, no set days to be in office as such. We are looking for an HCI & UI Developer to help design and build intuitive, high-impact user interfaces for our research platforms. You will contribute to foundational UI components that enable engineers and designers to interact with complex, AI-driven systems—especially in 3D and CAD‑adjacent environments. This role is ideal for a frontend engineer who enjoys working close to research teams and translating complex technical concepts into elegant, usable interfaces. Qualifications 3+ years of professional UI / Frontend development experience Strong expertise in React and Next.js Advanced proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript Solid understanding of UI/UX and HCI principles Experience building responsive, scalable web applications Strong problem‑solving and collaboration skills Education – Bachelor of Computer Science or similar Responsibilities Design and develop an interactive decomposition canvas for mechanical assemblies Build core HCI components enabling smooth, responsive user interactions Develop UI for requirements capture, guided inputs, and structured data editing Implement authentication flows and per-user project persistence UI Create UI controls for simulation output visualization and kinematic movement in 3D contexts Collaborate closely with research scientists and engineers to refine UI concepts Participate in iterative design and feedback cycles, improving usability and performance Preferred Qualifications Experience with Three.js or other 3D web visualization libraries Familiarity with CAD tools or engineering/design workflows Exposure to data visualization or graph‑based UI frameworks Python experience, especially with LangGraph or LLM agents Experience using AI‑assisted development tools (Cursor, Copilotkit, etc.) Our Fortune Technology client is ranked as one of the best companies to work with in the world.
