Job Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our engineering team supporting the Pickering Refurbishment Program in Pickering, Ontario. The successful candidate will play a key role in the structural engineering activities associated with the extraction, transportation, lifting, temporary support, and replacement of steam generators within a nuclear facility environment. This position requires strong expertise in structural analysis and design, reinforced concrete structures, and multidisciplinary coordination in complex industrial projects. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with regular presence on site in Pickering. Key Responsibilities • Lead and perform structural engineering assessments related to steam generator removal and replacement activities. • Evaluate existing structures and identify required modifications to support refurbishment operations. • Develop and review structural calculations, engineering analyses, and technical reports. • Assess load paths, temporary works, lifting operations, equipment supports, and construction sequencing impacts. • Design and verify structural modifications involving reinforced concrete and structural steel systems. • Perform structural integrity assessments of existing nuclear plant structures. • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, construction, project management, and operations teams to ensure safe execution of refurbishment activities. • Review contractor deliverables, design packages, and field engineering changes. • Support constructability reviews, risk assessments, and engineering walkdowns. • Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian codes, standards, nuclear regulations, and client requirements. • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and field execution phases. • Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and technical workshops. Job Requirements • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering. • Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience in industrial, energy, infrastructure, or nuclear projects. • Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) in Ontario. • Strong experience in structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete structures. • Demonstrated experience producing and reviewing engineering calculations and technical documentation. • Knowledge of Canadian design codes and standards, including CSA and relevant building codes. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. • Experience supporting nuclear refurbishment projects, particularly steam generator replacement programs. • Experience working on CANDU nuclear facilities. • Existing or previous OPG security clearance highly appreciated.
