Design Lead, Marketplace

About the Client: Our client is a Toronto-based startup reimagining how homeowners maintain and manage their most valuable asset: their home. Built on a community-driven model, their app connects homeowners with trusted local service providers, recommended by real neighbours, not algorithms. It is more than a marketplace, it is a digital ecosystem that fosters trust, transparency, and collaboration between homeowners and local service providers. The Opportunity: This is the design cornerstone of our client's marketplace product: the homeowner experience where people find the right Pro at the right moment and decide who to trust with their home. The Skills/Requirement Needed to Succeed: • A track record of owning end-to-end user experiences, visual and interaction, on real shipped product, and the judgment to know when and how to simplify. • Strong UX and interface design skills with fluency across mobile and web patterns. Figma preferred. • The ability to operate at the level of product and experience strategy, not just execution: developing the design vision, aligning senior stakeholders and executives, and holding a point of view on how the marketplace should evolve. • Fluency in both generative and evaluative research, and the ability to turn insight into design decisions. Comfort owning customer conversations directly. • Experience working with and contributing to a design system. • Product design background is required. • Nice to have: experience designing for a marketplace or two-sided platform, designing AI-powered features, and comfort programming in web technologies. • This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who wants real ownership of a critical part of the product. There are no direct reports.
