Our client, a leading innovator in the Oil & Gas industry, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Data Scientist to join their dedicated analytics team. You will leverage vast datasets from exploration, production, and operations to uncover insights, build predictive models, and drive data-informed decision-making across the organization. Key responsibilities:
Develop and implement sophisticated machine learning models for tasks such as predictive maintenance, reservoir characterization, and production optimization. Analyze large-scale datasets from various sources (e.g., seismic data, well logs, production data, sensor data). Design and conduct A/B tests and other experiments to evaluate the impact of new algorithms and strategies. Create compelling data visualizations and dashboards to communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Collaborate with geoscientists, petroleum engineers, and operations teams to identify key business problems and develop data-driven solutions. Clean, preprocess, and transform raw data into usable formats for analysis. Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and relevant industry applications. Contribute to the development of the company's data infrastructure and analytical tools. Present findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to senior management.
Required qualifications:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a significant portion focused on the Oil & Gas industry. Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R, and relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas). Experience with SQL and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop). Demonstrated experience in building and deploying machine learning models in a production environment. Strong understanding of statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, and experimental design. Excellent data visualization skills (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau, Power BI). Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
