Purpose of Job Contributes to the overall success of the Central Registrant and Investment Advisory (CRIA) Team ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. We are looking for a Portfolio Analyst to provide overall support to the CRIA team which includes the Director and Portfolio Managers. This individual will be relied upon for project management and support to the team and business stakeholders. Is this role right for you? In this role you will: Support Portfolio Managers by: Using strong knowledge of the Bank’s, Scotia Wealth and Scotia Jarislowsky Fraser (SJF)'s diverse products and services and value proposition, to ensure the Portfolio Managers' needs are well understood, documented and satisfied Preparing client packages, charts, tables to request and document information Provide ongoing support to the PMs and field Relationship Managers, preparing, creating and customizing of various internal reports Accurate management of client information and data utilizing various portfolio management systems (Mpower, Crystal Reports, Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct) Resolving issues expeditiously and accurately and/or escalating problem situations when appropriate Reviewing processes and providing recommendations to add value and enhance efficiencies through implementation of best practices and continuous process improvement Be Involved in Project Management by: Contributing to the development and maintenance of internal database, driving insights and developing recommendations to Portfolio Managers Participating technology improvement initiatives that result in positive business results and measurable goal achievement Working with internal partners to establish initiative objectives and scope to define the change initiative approach and workplan Creating and managing plans from initiating, planning, executing assigned projects and relevant deliverables to sustainment phases Developing effective communication plan to ensure impacted partners group at all levels are clearly addressed of the changes and associated impacts in all aspects Facilitating the team through key activities and tools aimed at surfacing knowledge Participate in Risk Management/Compliance by: Minimizing the Bank’s exposure to risk by maintaining awareness and ensuring compliance/adherence to all procedures, regulatory activities and guidelines including Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing, FCAC, Know your Client, Occupational Health & Safety and Guidelines for Business Conduct Supporting the Portfolio Managers in maintaining client portfolios in accordance with established firm strategy which includes, utilizing the Central Portfolio Models and pools, focusing on client segmentation and client’s risk appetite Participating in all aspects of compliance and the identification of actions or changes in policy and/or procedures in order to remediate non-compliance in the business. Escalating issues to the Portfolio Managers, and/or Director as appropriate Adhering to bank and firm standards, policies and business practices to ensure that SJF is meeting the appropriate regulatory and compliance requirements as they relate to both new and existing accounts Escalating, documenting and reporting any unusual occurrences, suspicious or fraudulent activities, as per established procedures Support Team Members and Event Coordination by: Contributing to the effective functioning of the SJF team Fostering and developing a strong, positive team environment, driving employee empowerment, innovation and a high degree of engagement Building effective working relationships across the team and with various business line, internal and external stakeholders Facilitating a culture of open and honest communication Engaging actively in coaching sessions, touchbases, and team meetings, contributing valuable insights and feedback Encouraging the generation of new ideas and approaches Actively sharing knowledge and experience to enhance the development of all team members Developing and executing a meaningful employee development plan Coordinating and managing the planning and execution of team events with precision, overseeing all logistical aspects to ensure successful and engaging events Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We would love to work with you if you have: University Degree (Business, Economics, Math, Finance), or equivalent Proficient technical skills (Microsoft Office applications (required), VBA (desired), Power BI, including an understanding of database concepts) Experience with Crystal Report, Mpower, Morningstar and Bloomberg is desired Strong interpersonal, communication & listening skills Strong attention to detail Proactive customer service focus Highly collaborative with excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills. Excellent organizational, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills Results/Goal achievement oriented Self-motivated and disciplined Ability to combine initiative, integrity and professional discipline to accomplish difficult tasks through other people #SWM
