About this role

Robert Half is supporting a search for a Corporate Controller with a Canadian public company in the mining / natural resources space, entering an important growth phase tied to an operational restart.Reporting to the CFO, this role is a blend of hands‑on technical accounting leadership (approx. 65–70%) and budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis (approx. 30–35%). The Controller will play a key role in strengthening financial reporting, audit processes, internal controls, and performance reporting as the business scales.Key Responsibilities:Financial Reporting & Public Company DisclosureLead quarterly consolidation and preparation of IFRS financial statementsPrepare quarterly and annual MD&A and support continuous disclosure filings (SEDAR+, exchange reporting)Ensure accuracy of disclosures, footnotes, and financial sections of press releases and investor materialsMaintain accounting policies, procedures, and chart of accountsAudit, Technical Accounting & ControlsAct as primary contact for external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual auditPrepare audit schedules, manage timelines, and address management letter itemsResearch and document complex technical accounting matters (IFRS), including mining‑specific areas (e.g., depletion, ARO, capitalization)Design, maintain, and enhance internal controls over financial reportingBudgeting, Forecasting & AnalysisLead annual corporate budget and quarterly forecasts in partnership with operations and site financeConsolidate site‑level budgets with corporate overheadPerform variance analysis and provide insights to support operational and strategic decision‑makingSupport board and lender reporting alongside the CFO and site finance leadershipCash, Treasury & LeadershipSupport liquidity planning, covenant compliance, and cash managementWork closely with site finance to ensure consistency across reporting and controlsProvide technical guidance and mentorship as the finance function evolves
