QA Automation Engineer - Device & Connectivity Testing (Telecommunications)

Our client in the professional services sector is seeking a contract based QA Automation Engineer with strong experience in device testing, connectivity validation, and telecom network environments. Duration: 12 months Location: hybrid 4d - Toronto Responsibilities: • Design and execute automated and manual test strategies for mobile devices, tablets, and connected devices. • Perform device connectivity testing across multiple telecom network environments. • Validate device behavior across different cellular technologies including LTE, 5G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, and eSIM scenarios. • Test device transitions between network towers, roaming environments, and varying carrier configurations. • Execute end-to-end testing within telecom lab environments that simulate real-world network conditions. • Develop and maintain automation frameworks for device and connectivity testing. • Perform network, connectivity, interoperability, and regression testing. • Investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and work with engineering teams to resolve issues. • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, test scripts, and quality documentation. • Support certification, validation, and release activities for new devices and software updates. • Participate in lab setup, device configuration, and testing across various network bands and configurations. Requirements: • 7+ years of Quality Assurance and Test Engineering experience. • Strong experience testing mobile devices, smartphones, tablets, or connected devices. • Experience working within telecommunications or wireless carrier environments. • Hands-on experience validating device connectivity across cellular and wireless networks. • Experience testing LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, VoLTE, eSIM, or related wireless technologies. • Strong understanding of network concepts including: Cellular networks, Radio frequency bands, Network handoffs, Connectivity validation, Carrier provisioning • Experience developing automated test solutions using tools such as: Appium, Selenium, Robot Framework, Python, Java • Similar automation technologies Nice to Have • Experience working in carrier certification labs or telecom device labs. • Experience testing connected vehicles, IoT devices, wearables, or other connected technologies. • Exposure to network simulation environments and carrier test platforms. • Experience with packet capture and network analysis tools. • Knowledge of telecom standards and device certification processes. • Experience with CI/CD and automated testing pipelines.
